Making a difference for Alfie

In August  2012 we  set up The Alfie Lund Fund with the aim of raising enough funds to buy Alfie a specially adapted bed.  Together with the help of some  fantastic friends we oraganized a football tournament and famiy  fun day.  It was a huge success and exceeded all our expectaions. Little did we know it would be the start of something much bigger!

The community  of Burscough and beyond  has taken  Alfie under their wing and we have been incredibly touched by how many people have done amazing things all to raise funds for our little boy.

We have also been lucky enough to be shown some fantastic support from the likes of Liverpool and England Footballer Steven Gerrard,  Boxing ledgends Steve Collins and Ricky Hatton and ex-footballer Jimmy Bullard amongst a few.

Wow! Thank you.

We have since been able to purchase a specially adapted bed to meet Alfie's needs, a disability trike, travel bed, eye gaze technology and  some sensory toys for Alfie.

Alfie will continue to need specialist items as he grows and his needs change.

With the fantastic support we  have  and  the constant supply of willing people we will be able to  have a nest egg for Alfie so that he will be able to have as comfortable a life as he can.

Alfie's fund  has gone from strength to strength and we can only thank you for your continued support.

Very close to our hearts is  MECP2 Duplication  UK. They are a newly founded charity who aim to provide  support and assistance to children and families affected by MECP2 Duplication syndrome in the UK.

Here in the UK  Alfie is one of only  approximately 35 children  diagnosed and there is very little known about the disorder so having  a source  of support and information is vital to newly diagnosed families and those living with the disorder.

Through Alfie's fund we have also raised funds for them which will go towards helping families just like us.

The Alfie Lund Fund  raises money for specialist equipment for Alfie to help meet his therapy needs and give him a more comfortable life. We work hard to raise awareness of MECP2 Duplication syndrome and have given back to local community courses through our fundraising and donated  to MECP2 Duplication UK to help other families like us.
